On April 30, 1975, the entire Vietnamese nation erupted in joy as the South was completely liberated, the country was unified from North to South, and our people were finally reunited under one roof. A glorious chapter in our nation’s history, which written in the blood, sweat, and bravery of millions of Vietnamese, came to a close. This historic moment marked the beginning of a new era for Vietnam: a journey of peace, reunification, and development.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of National Reunification
"We invite you to listen to the latest victory report just received: At exactly 11:30 AM, our troops entered Saigon and seized the Independence Palace. The General Staff of the puppet regime - Duong Van Minh - surrendered unconditionally. The red flag with a yellow star now flies high above the roof of the Independence Palace. The Ho Chi Minh Campaign has achieved total victory.”
This was the victory broadcast on April 30, 1975 — a short, powerful announcement that made the entire nation erupt in happiness at the achievement of independence and freedom. It stands as a historical landmark and testimony to the unity of the Vietnamese people. From that moment on, our people were one, and our nation turned a new page of independence, freedom, and happiness.
All these achievements are a vivid testament to the spirit of unity, resilience, and the unyielding will and peace-loving aspiration of the Vietnamese people. As the younger generation, it is our responsibility to carry forward this proud legacy — to contribute to the vision of a strong and prosperous Vietnam, standing shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the world, just as President Ho Chi Minh once envisioned.
